Serving the San Francisco Bay Area's Dental Implant Needs

Are missing teeth causing you to miss out on normal everyday activities? Are you afraid to eat apples, corn on the cob, or other favorite foods? Are you hesitant to laugh because you aren’t sure that your teeth will keep up with you? If so, and you live in the San Francisco area, you may want to consider dental implants from Pope Dental.

Improve Functionality and Appearance with Dental Implants

Missing teeth can cause a number of problems, from impaired eating and speaking to the shifting of remaining teeth. Dentures are a partial solution to the problem, but cannot prevent the deterioration of bone that results from the loss of teeth nor the eventual shifting of nearby teeth. Whether a single tooth is missing or all teeth are unsalvageable, dental implants are long-lasting, aesthetically and structurally sound options. Durable and discreet, dental implants consist of a synthetic tooth root, often made of titanium, to which a replacement tooth is attached. Our San Francisco-area patients can seek dental implants as an alternative to dentures, removable partials, or bridges—they look natural and provide significantly better chewing power than other comparable options. Because implants are so long-lasting, they are often the most cost-effective solution, requiring less care and maintenance than dentures or non-anchored bridges.

The Dental Implants Procedure

Dental implants usually take three phases to complete. First, the artificial root must be implanted into the jawbone. After a period of healing, known as osseointegration, an abutment is placed on the root portion. Finally, the new tooth is attached to the implant, and the patient has their new teeth! With proper care and dental hygiene, many patients at our San Francisco practice find their dental implants can last for many years, and in some cases a lifetime. If a replacement tooth should become damaged, however, a new restoration can be placed.
