For teeth that are damaged or stained beyond what can be remedied by teeth whitening, but not so damaged that they require full dental crowns, we offer porcelain veneers at our Walnut Creek office, serving the San Francisco area. Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers, can produce beautiful, long-lasting results by covering and protecting cracks, chips, stains, gaps, and misshapen teeth.
(Actual patients of Dr. Pope)
Dental veneers are very small, thin pieces of porcelain that are custom created for your tooth and permanently bonded using quality dental materials. The veneers are color-matched to the rest of your teeth, though some patients choose to undergo teeth whitening prior to the placement of their dental veneers to achieve the brightest smile possible.
Porcelain veneers fit snugly on the front of teeth, requiring only conservative preparation and minimal tooth reduction. They can be placed in as little as two visits! When you first come in for porcelain dental veneers at our San Francisco-area office in Walnut Creek, Dr. Pope will take a mold of your teeth to determine the exact shape of the veneers. After a week or 10 days, your new porcelain veneers will be ready and you’ll return our office to have them applied to your teeth. After being permanently bonded, your dental veneers will look, feel, and function just like your own teeth, creating a natural-looking smile.
Anyone who is dissatisfied with the condition of his or her teeth may be a candidate for porcelain veneers. However, people who grind or clench their teeth may have trouble with dental veneers, as they may break off due to stress. Furthermore, dental veneers cannot be applied to excessively unhealthy teeth or teeth that are not structurally sound.
The only way to determine whether you’re a good candidate for porcelain dental veneers at our Walnut Creek office is to come in for a consultation with Dr. Pope, where he can sit down with you and evaluate your dental health and assess your goals for the procedure. If you're interested in porcelain dental veneers and live near San Francisco, schedule a consultation with our cosmetic dentist to find out what they can do for you.
